Visit to Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, NSW. January 2008

Loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs on the beach at Mon Repos near Bundaberg in Queensland. The National Parks & Wildlife have a visitor information centre nearby and during the nesting season take groups out to watch the turtles. The turtle in these photos was laying her second clutch of eggs for the season. She was just over 1m long.
