After a couple of days blundering around in the source code of a variety of Dashboard and Konfabulator widgets I’ve managed to put together an Internode Usage Meter widget for Dashboard.

The widget is based on Paul Johnson’s Konfabulator widget (www.hillmanminx.com/usagemeter/). Code and image reuse is with permission of Paul. Thanks!

So if you’d like to try it out head over to dashboard.tkdack.com and follow your nose.

I’ve been playing around with OS X Tiger the last couple of days, in particular the new Dashboard feature. It’s somewhat like Konfabulator, but all the widgets are contained in a separate “screen”.

Apparently Apple had a wee bit of a contest to design a dashboard widget, the result is: Wikity Widget … sort of automagic cross-referenced sticky notes.

Today is Anzac day here in Australia. For most of us Aussies this day marks a signficant point in the history of our young nation. It was on this day, 90 years ago that the brave young Australian Diggers landed at Gallipoli and began the legend that has helped to shape our nation.

For more have a read of The Anzac Day Tradition over at the Australian War Memorial’s web site.

I remember coming across waferbaby during my web surfing a few years ago and I stumbled across it again this evening.

Things seem to have matured a bit, but it still has that quirky, yet important, feel that I got all those years ago.

Well it’s been a bit of a busy week. I’m off to sea again at the beginning of next week. We are only going out for a few days, but it is the first time in nearly 2 months that the ship has been to sea. We’ve had a few people post off and a few new ones arrive, not all the new faces have served on and ANZAC before so there are a few things for them to learn.

After we load up with ammunition we will head into Sydney for the first time in about 6 months. All the Sydney natives are looking forward to being home for a little while. Unfortunately we’ll only be there for about a month, then off again to serve and protect.

Looks like I’m not the only one who has attempted to post to my blog from my phone, George Walkley has been having a crack at it too.
